The Room Doesn't Change.
The Question does.
Imagine walking into a room and being told:
Find everything that's blue.
Now imagine being told:
Find evidence someone was here before you.
You would notice completely different things.
The room hasn't changed.
The question has.
the hidden problem...
Most students begin reading before they know what they're looking for.
The result? Everything seems important.
They highlight everything.
Take pages of notes.
Collect quotes.
But collecting information isn't the same thing as finding answers.
Questions turn information into direction.

This isn't a writing problem.
When students say,
"I don't know what to write."
They're really saying,
"I don't know where to put my attention."
And, that's because they haven't decided what they're looking for yet.
Questions create direction.
Direction creates clarity.
Clarity creates writing.
